WORD OF THE MONTH: RESPECT (尊重 – Zūn zhòng)
“Respectful tigers honor everyone!”
### WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH
**WEEKLY RESPECT CHALLENGES**
**WEEK 1 (June 1-7): RESPECT FOR INSTRUCTORS**
This week, our students will focus on proper bowing techniques when entering and leaving the training area. We’ll emphasize the importance of showing respect to those who guide our martial arts journey.
**WEEK 2 (June 8-14): RESPECT FOR CLASSMATES**
Students will participate in “Respect Circles” where they’ll share something they admire about their training partners. Building a supportive community starts with mutual respect!
**WEEK 3 (June 15-21): RESPECT FOR FAMILY – FATHER’S DAY SPECIAL**
In honor of Father’s Day (June 15th), students will create special artwork celebrating their fathers or father figures. These masterpieces will be displayed in our school throughout the month!
**WEEK 4 (June 22-28): RESPECT FOR SELF**
Our final week focuses on self-respect through positive self-talk and self-discipline. Students will share ways they’ve honored themselves through healthy habits and personal discipline.

INSTRUCTOR CORNER
A few words from head instructor Stephen on why respect is fundamental to martial arts training and how it extends beyond our School and into everyday life.
“Respect isn’t just a word we say or do at the beginning and end of each class – it’s the foundation that everything else is built upon.
In our School, respect starts with how we treat ourselves, our training partners, and our instructors. But the real magic happens when that respect flows into everyday life. When our students bow before the warm up, they’re learning to honor their instructors and Grand Masters of our Kung Fu. When they listen carefully to instruction, they’re developing patience and humility.
I’ve watched countless students transform over my years of teaching – from shy Tiny Tigers finding their voice, to teenagers standing taller against bullying, to adults discovering inner strength they never knew they had. That transformation always begins with respect.
Respect teaches us that true strength isn’t about overpowering others – it’s about lifting them up. It’s about walking away from unnecessary conflict because you’re confident in who you are. It’s about treating everyone with dignity, regardless of their belt color or experience level.
When our students leave our School, they carry this respect with them. They speak more kindly to family members, they stand up for others being mistreated, and they approach challenges with a calm, centered mindset.
That’s the real power of martial arts – not just learning to defend yourself physically, but building the character to navigate life with honor and integrity.”
